National Bee Census 2024: 15 to 24 April!

Every spring, Naturalis collaborates with IVN Natuureducatie and LandschappenNL to organize the National Bee Census in the Netherlands. This annual event aims to gather insights into the bee population, which includes nearly 350 species in the country, almost half of which are endangered. The census results help identify the distribution of different bee species and track whether their numbers are increasing or decreasing.
Who can participate?
Everyone is welcome to join the census, regardless of their knowledge of bees. Participating is easy, as there is a counting form and a bee guide provided to help identify the sixteen different species of wild bees, bumblebees, and hoverflies.
