37th International Scientofoc Instrument Commission Congress

In the period from 3-8 September 2018, Rijksmuseum Boerhaave organised the 37th International Scientific Instrument Commission Congress (a sub-commission of UNESCO).

150 science historians, museum conservators and students from more than 20 countries from all around the world, talked about historic scientific developments.

The readings and discussions took place in the two congress rooms of Rijksmuseum Boerhaave. Excursions took place not only in Leiden (Bibliotheca Thysiana, Pieterskerk, de Leidse Sterrenwacht, the depot and the University library), but also in other museums. These could easily be reached from Leiden by bus. The congress dinner took place in Leiden as well, in the Oranjerie of the Hortus Botanicus. After the congress we received many compliments, not onlu about the congress, but also about the beautiful city that is easy to navigate and has a lot to offer.
