On the 1st of July Geertje Dekker, historian and scientific journalist, will give a lecture at Rijksmuseum Boerhaave about how Antoni van Leeuwenhoek, inventor of the microscope, helped microscopic research move forward and obstruct it
The lecture will take place from 15:00 - 16:00 o'clock.
Antoni van Leeuwenhoek shared his findings to those curious with much enthusiasm, but he was surprisingly mysterious about his lenses. Aside from being a researcher, he was also an entrepeneur, after all, and in that time, entrepeneurs were very secretive about their methods. Besides this, the latest developments in researchs concerning van Leeuwenhoek and his work will also be brought up.

The language spoken during the lecture will be Dutch. You can join the lecture online, or in the museum's congress hall. In both cases, you need to have registered yourself for the lecture.
