The HUPO Proteomics Standards Initiative defines community standards for data representation in proteomics and interactomics to facilitate data comparison, exchange and verification.

HUPO-PSI defines community standards for data representation in proteomics to facilitate data comparision, exchange and verification.
It was founded at the HUPO meeting in Washington, April 28-29, 2002.

HUPO PSI helps other HUPO projects and groups work together and use the same methods for managing data. They help with data management and long-term storage for projects studying proteins in blood, brain, and liver. Currently, HUPO PSI is working with large protein data groups to plan how to collect data for the next phase of the blood protein project and another new project. Additionally, they are working with another group called ProteomeBinders on a project about proteins that bind to other proteins, and this work helped create a new set of guidelines for how to describe these types of proteins.
