45th Symposium on Old English, Middle English and Historical Linguistics in the Low Countries
Contact

This is an annual symposium where scholars from Dutch, Belgian, and, increasingly, German universities present their groundbreaking research in Old English, Middle English, and Historical Linguistics.
The symposium provides an excellent opportunity for professional Dutch and Belgian academics, college instructors, doctoral candidates, and advanced master's students to listen to each other's works in progress. The diversity of presentations, given by both established and emerging researchers, including students, contributes to the especially appealing atmosphere of the event. More recently, speakers and participants from Germany have discovered the symposium, transforming it into a truly international meeting place.

Leiden University offers two undergraduate courses on Old English, two on Middle English, one focused on the History of the English Language, and another dedicated to medieval English literature. Additionally, several master's courses cover these subjects.
