At The Field, we are of the opinion that we can make an impact together, which is why we share the sustainable choices we make, intending to inspire others to do the same! Which is why we present our latest updates with pride, with which we have implemented even more sustainable efforts in our event venue. From renovating our outdoor dining area, to working with local partners and reducing food waste, we strive to have a positive impact on our world.

A cosy outdoor dining area with circular fences and native plants

The outdoor dining area of our Circular Pavillion has recently received a renovation, focussing on sustainability and cosiness. We chose for circular fences from Buurjongens, which are made from old fence wood. These fences do not only fit perfectly with the atmosphere of our dining area, but also contribute to reducing waste and the recycling of materials.

Besides that, we applied a green touch by placing native plants in our outdoor dining area. These plants are naturally adapted to the local climate, and did not have any interaction with chemicals. This ensures not only a pleasant outdoor dining area for our visitors, but also for the bees and butterflies!

Collaboration with a local coffeeburner

When it comes to the creation of a sustainable event location, it is essential to work together with local partners which share the same values. This is why we have started a collaboration with Leiden coffeeburner Dino. Dino gets his coffee directly from Nepal, where the coffee farmer gets a fair price for his beans.

Worm farm for the composting of food scraps

Food waste is a large problem in the events industry. In order to take responsibility and tackle this issue, we set up a worm farm. All our coffee and food scraps which remain after events are gathered up and moved to the worm farm. The worms break these scraps down and convert them to high-quality compost. This compost is subsequently used to feed our native plants and garden, creating a closed circle, which also reduces the amount of trash.

Drinks with processed residual flows

When serving drinks, we focussed on reducing residual flows and improving sustainability. Roze Bunker has applied innovatie methodes to use residual flows when making refreshing and tasteful drinks.
