Science Events Happening in Leiden in 2023

Leiden was European City of Science in 2022. There was a 365-days festival, in which all kind of activities were organised. We are happy to announce that many of these activities will return in 2023!

Life Sciences & Health Week

More than 400 years have passed since the first medicinal plants were brought to the Hortus Botanicus, and now, Leiden boasts its own Bio Science Park. We have seen new medical discoveries happening for the past four centuries. Great minds like Boerhaave and Albinus have flourished in Leiden, as are the 30,000 people who are currently working on the discoveries of tomorrow. 

To celebrate the past and future medical innovations, the Life Sciences & Health week will return to Leiden in 2023 from June 22nd to June 29th.

The Space Week

The Space Week is an initiative of NL Space Campus in cooperation with ESA ESTEC, and the very first edition of the Space Week took place from September 25th to October 2nd 2022. From turning all lights of in the city centre of Leiden during Seeing Stars Leiden, to making a telescope out of lego, all kinds of activities took place. The Space Week will return in October 2023.

BRAVE NEW WORLD

BRAVE NEW WORLD is an annual Art & Science conference for people who want to know what the future holds in store and how this will affect their business, policies and life. It took place in Leiden on September 12th and 13th, with Prof. Yubal Noah Harari as one of their speakers. BRAVE NEW WORLD will return to Leiden on September 14th and 15th, and will take place in Naturalis.
