Papyrus Meeting

The two-day symposium is open to museum professionals and scholars working with papyrus collections. It provides a unique forum for conservators, curators and researchers to meet and discuss the challenges they face around access, preservation and research of papyrus collections.

Call for papers

We are now inviting proposals for individual papers of 20 minutes or short communications of 10 minutes on subjects related to:

• Conservation and Preservation
• Cataloguing
• Digitisation and Access
• Funding Opportunities
• Ongoing and Completed Projects
• Research

Submissions should include a title, summary (max. 200 words) and bio (max. 50 words). Please submit your proposals by a message to Eliza Jacobi by 1 February 2024. Successful submissions will be announced in March 2024 with a full program to follow.

In addition to the lecture series, the program includes behind-the-scenes access to the conservation studio and to highlights from the papyrus collections of the museum and the University of Leiden:

• Tours through the Egyptian and Nubian collections
• Visit the papyrus collection of the University of Leiden
