Tuesday Talks: designing the next generation of precision medicine

Lab

Tuesday Talks is a monthly event organised by Leiden University, which will be held on 14 October this month. In this lecture, Professor Kim Bonger from Chemical Biology will talk about the new field of research known as click chemistry, and how it can create opportunities for medicine.

During the upcoming Tuesday Talk, Professor Kim Bonger will discuss, among other things, how we can develop medicines in such a way that they only target diseased cells, while leaving healthy cells untouched. In addition, she will explore whether it is possible to activate therapies only at the place and time they are really needed, thereby drastically reducing harmful side effects.

Professor Kim Bonger and her team are working on innovative methods that bring chemistry and biology together. The research has a broad scope: from designing molecular probes and imaging tools to developing strategies to influence diseases at the cellular level. Their work opens the door to new, safer and more effective treatments.
