For nearly 900 years the Pieterskerk has been the defining reference point of Leiden. The two keys of St Peter symbolise Leiden and symbolically unlock the gates of heaven and those of the world. This symbolism is reflected in the use of the Pieterskerk. A transformation from Catholic church to Reformed house of worship and currently into a multi-functional meeting place in a listed building of extraordinary cultural and historical value. The church has already opened its doors to famous visitors, including the likes of Floris V, Rembrandt van Rijn, John, Abigail & Quincy Adams, Winston Churchill, Nelson Mandela, George Bush Sr., Princess Beatrix and King Willem-Alexander.
The Pieterskerk is highly suitable for any conceivable gathering: concerts, conferences, cultural manifestations, dinners, parties, receptions, presentations, symposiums, fairs, exhibitions, meetings or other events. This impressive historical location leaves its memorable impression on each visitor, whether they participate in an intimate dinner in the magnificently illuminated church or attend a business conference for 1500 people. With its 3300 m² heated floor space, the Pieterskerk is available all year. In consultation, the historical Pieterskerkplein can provide an exclusive covered 900 m² of additional event space at the western entrance.
The Pieterskerk has the most modern technical facilities at its disposal, such as a reverb-proof sound system, lighting, rigging (up to 25 metres), high-voltage power current and cable ducts. This makes the Pieterskerk in Leiden a technical high-quality conference location, at a central location in the Randstad.
As the ‘living room of Leiden' and a national heritage site, the Pieterskerk has a social function which befits its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The Pieterskerk has a sustainable operation, uses sustainable purchasing and practices sustainable maintenance. This means the church has been Green Key Gold certified.
The Pieterskerk Leiden has suitable space to accommodate any event: from a six-person meeting in the Kerkmeesterskamer, to a luxury dinner for 500 guests in the apse of the Pieterskerk or a birthday party up to 70 people in the Pieterskerk café. Meeting with a large company in the choir of the Pieterskerk Leiden, a workshop in the library, discussing with a smaller company in the historical 17th century style chambers or a brainstorming session in the intimate atmosphere of Villa Rameau, which also provides options for overnight accommodations. There are several conference packages.
Just outside the city centre there is the parking lot Haagweg. From this location a free shuttle service provides transport to and from the Pieterskerk. Parking tickets can be reserved via the Pieterskerk.
