The Stadsgehoorzaal Leiden is an historical location in the city centre of Leiden. This extraordinary building rests on the foundations of the Saint Catharina hospital, which dates back to 1276. The nearby Waalse Kerk is the original chapel of the hospital. The Stadsgehoorzaal was built in the 19th century as a concert hall in an impressive Neo-Renaissance style, rare in the Netherlands. The facade with arcaded patio gives the building its extraordinary allure. From the original interior, the wood panelling and balconies in the Grote Zaal and the entire interior of the Breezaal have been preserved.

Even though the building was originally built as a concert hall, it is currently also a gorgeous conference or party venue. For large and small events and conferences, there are various multi-functional rooms, suitable from 5 up to 2,000 guests. Under one roof, you can find the 19th century Grote Zaal (838 seats), the modern Aalmarktzaal (349 seats), the classic Breezaal (250 seats) and various foyers and rooms which can be used separately or as part of a combination.

The Grote Zaal, with its widely acclaimed acoustics, has a flexible floor and removable seats. This makes it easy to transform from a conference location into a magnificent party room. This makes it possible, for example, to combine a substantive programme with a fancy dinner or large party in the same building. Part of the stage is adjustable in height, which provides surprising options. The wide circular aisles encompassing the Grote Zaal are highly suitable for poster presentations.

The classic Breezaal, with the atmosphere of a Vienna ballroom, is a magnificent location for receptions or an intimate dinner. The Aalmarktzaal lies adjacent to the Grote Zaal and can be connected to the other rooms into one big location. The Aalmarktzaal with its foyers and separate entrance can also be used as a stand-alone location. The golden hall provides a gorgeous view over the old city through the large windows (which can be shaded) and is very suitable for lectures, seminars and concerts.

The Stadsgehoorzaal can also be used in combination with the Leidse Schouwburg. These locations are within walking distance. Both locations have been certified with the Golden Green Key.

The Stadsgehoorzaal is situated adjacent to the water (back of the building), right in the city centre of Leiden, at about a 10-minute walk from Leiden Central Station. A unique parking system with free shuttle buses brings visitors from the Haagweg car park to the front door within a few minutes.
