EU funding for groundbreaking Solar-to-X project
IBL researcher Lennart Schada von Borzyskowski receives European funding for the C5 project. Together with international partners, he is developing technology that directly converts sunlight, CO₂ and water into sustainable fuels and chemicals. This innovative approach could accelerate the transition to a green economy.
Smart cyanobacteria as mini solar factories
The C5 project uses genetically modified cyanobacteria as living solar reactors. By adding a new carbon fixation pathway, they can efficiently produce valuable substances without the need for electricity. The four-year project will start in November 2025 and is in line with the objectives of the European Green Deal.
