Looking back on FAMtrip 2025
On 4 November 2025, national and international event planners discovered Leiden in a way they had never done before. During our annual FAMtrip, the city became a playground for exploration through the Leiden Game, developed by Bizon Events. A day designed to turn curiosity and discovery into connection.
Brasserie Rumour
We started with a warm welcome at Brasserie Rumour by 3WO Horeca Groep, setting the tone for a day full of inspiration and energy.
Our manager, Miranda Geerlings (LCB), gave an introduction to Leiden Convention Bureau (LCB), introduced the team and explained why Leiden is the city of Science & Culture. Leiden is known for its fusion of science and history, thanks in part to Leiden University, the oldest university in the Netherlands, which is celebrating its 450th anniversary this year.
Miranda also emphasised the importance of Leiden as an international conference destination, the unique collaboration within the city and the support offered by LCB, including services such as the new Leiden Booking Service.
This inspiring introduction was followed by a visit to the 'Burcht'.
PLNT and Leidse Schouwburg - Stadsgehoorzaal
The morning began at PLNT, where participants used LEGO to solve modern organisational challenges and experienced how innovation flourishes in Leiden's entrepreneurial community. From there, they went to the Leidse Schouwburg - Stadsgehoorzaal, where they explored how collaboration and flexibility shape the city's historic yet progressive venues.
Hooglandse Kerk
Around 12:30, it was time for a delicious lunch in the Hooglandse Kerk / Marekerk, provided by Homemade. Surrounded by light and history, the teams checked the interim scores and then set off again.
Pieterskerk and Young Rembrandt studio
Then the second part of the competition began. The teams continued their journey to the Pieterskerk Leiden, where they discovered its magical past by solving hidden riddles, and to the Young Rembrandt Studio, where they stepped into the story of the city's most famous painter, the young Rembrandt van Rijn. Each stop offered a new perspective on how science, culture and innovation are intertwined in Leiden.
Tuincafé Zondag
The day ended with a relaxed networking reception at Tuincafé Zondag by Brasserie Groep, where ideas, laughter and new connections filled the room. We concluded by announcing the winners, after which everyone went home with a smile on their face.
On behalf of Leiden Convention Bureau, we would like to thank everyone for their enthusiastic participation.
It was fantastic to discover the city of Leiden together.
