Daphne STRUINT wins Changemakers Award!

| Daphne STRUINT

On December 1st, Daphne van den Berg, with her company Daphne STRUINT, won the S4C Changemakers Award. This award aims to highlight individuals making a positive impact. Over the course of 7 years, Daphne has focused her business on connecting people with nature, leading around 2000 individuals on nature excursions.

Daphne achieves this by organizing foraging walks for both individuals and businesses, providing nature lessons in primary schools and after-school programs, and offering training sessions on nature appreciation for childcare professionals. Additionally, during the COVID-19 pandemic, she created the Fiets & Foodroute, a cycling route above Leiderdorp centered around local food. Earlier this year, a documentary titled "De Wildplukker" was released, showcasing her work.

Daphne on her work: "My goal is to reconnect people with the nature around them and help them rediscover the various uses of nature: not just for its tranquility and beauty, but to realize that there's essentially a salad bar of edible and medicinal plants surrounding you. For example, you can make your own dishwashing detergent from ivy. Ultimately, this is about reducing your ecological footprint and discovering how rich nature in your immediate surroundings is. Because when you realize how extraordinary the nature around you is, you're more inclined to take better care of it."
