Natural and effective, developed by David’s Gelato and the LUMC
A dry mouth can be caused by medication, treatments such as chemotherapy or radiation, or old age. Often, remedies like drinking water, chewing gum, or swallowing a mint only offer short-term respite. David's Gelato and nutritionist Rick Stil from Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC) have created a unique ice cream to address these issues in a delightful and natural way. An extract from the Sechuan Buttons flower is included in the ice cream. Saliva production in the mouth is increased by this natural extract's gentle stimulation of the salivary glands. This immediately moistens the mouth, making swallowing and speaking easier.

The ice creams are developed using only natural ingredients, made from high-quality fresh fruit. No artificial additives are used, to make the product as natural as possible and provide long-lasting relief without a medication-like feeling. In addition, the ice cream has been developed with people with sensitive mouths in mind and has a creamy and soft texture. This makes the ice cream an accessible and pleasant solution to a problem that many people struggle with on a daily basis.
The ice creams are available in three flavours: frambana (raspberry-banana), mango and tropical. They are on sale at David's Gelato in Gouda and in the restaurant of the LUMC Leiden, for a price of €2.75.
