Leiden as a venue for international physics conference

From formulas in the city to connections in the hall

The International Research Group on Physics Teaching organized the conference in cooperation with the Leiden University Graduate School of Teaching (ICLON) and the Leiden Institute of Physics (LION). Through plenary lectures and seminars, educators, researchers, and students gathered to network and exchange and discuss their physics expertise at the conference.

Paul Logman, a member of the organising committee, received many compliments about the city of Leiden during the conference. ‘The students loved all the physics formulas in the city,’ he said. On top of that it was really pleasant that everything in the city was within walking distance and enjoyed the city centre, the abundance of greenery and the canals.

Leiden Booking Service

The organisers were the first conference to use Leiden Convention Bureau's Leiden Booking Service for hotel room reservations. This service was developed to make the process of booking hotel accommodation for multi-day national and international conferences as smooth and efficient as possible for conference organisers. Participants could easily book their hotel stays before and during the conference themselves via a link on the conference website.

The organisers used the Leiden Booking Service of the Leiden Convention Bureau to reserve hotel rooms. The Leiden Booking Service took work off our hands," said Paul. He emphasized that it was convenient to use, with everything organized via one link on the website. Paul also appreciated that the colleague at the Booking Service was always accessible to respond to inquiries or make minor adjustments. GIREP confirms that Leiden Booking Service meets the wishes of international planners: simplicity, reliability and personal support.
