Our Ambassadors

International conferences can be regarded as "the epitome" of excellence in a given field. By bringing conferences to Leiden, the international spotlight is focused on the high level of the knowledge sector in our city. The input of Leiden public figures from the knowledge sector and the business community - the ambassadors of Leiden - is an essential link in building the image of 'Leiden City of Science'. When we established our ambassador network, the level of interest in this was greater than we had anticipated.  The first Leiden front runners ended up turning into ambassadors, eager to share the knowledge that Leiden has to offer with the rest of the world.

How do ambassadors help Leiden?

Local key figures in science play a vital role in promoting the beautiful city of Leiden as a conference destination. Not only do they have valuable insights into (international) conferences within their field, but they also play an essential part in convincing international associations to choose Leiden as the location for their next event.

Are you an ambassador?

For the ambassadors of Leiden as a conference destination, the Leiden Convention Bureau would like to provide you with several useful documents in our toolkit. These documents contain information on the possibilities of organising conferences in Leiden for your (future) conference, which allows for the ambassador to gather all the information needed in the run-up to the actual conference. 

Do you want to become an ambassador?

You can become an ambassador for Leiden and help us attract special conferences and events to our city.  Our Ambassadors Programme is open to Leiden-based scientists, entrepreneurs, and well-known public figures who operate within important national and international frameworks.  We invite you to contribute to promoting Leiden’s reputation as a City of Science.
